Memphis

After a month of call and the need to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary a trip to Memphis was decided.  I emailed some friends about hotels/food places etc. We arrived Friday afternoon to our hotel and changed for the evening.  After some much needed alone time "without a pager" we headed to Flights after a friend recommended. The idea sounded intriguing to me – the whole menu was based on the concept of flights, like flights of wine; which Tim and me love flights of wine at 6th and Vine. So you could have a salad flight – a trio of mini salads – or an appetizer flight, dessert flight and even the entrees were available as flights.  We both ended up doing entree' flights- I kinda of picked around and Tim did one that was prepared. Top the evening off we did dessert-flights which we shared.  This was one of may favorite restaurants now. 

Saturday morning we got up started the morning off at Denny's next door to the hotel. Then headed to the Zoo. However, we started the morning off with a flat.  Ended up having to get two new tires but just so thankful we made it there safely.

Finally made it to the zoo it was defintly worth the wait. It was really cold and had some rain but ended up being a nice day. The zoo had 2 panda bears.  They were so cute and we caught a talk with the zoo keepers and learned more about Panda Bear.  The zoo was really nice and worth the trip.

After the zoo we came back and went check the famous Peabody Hotel across the street!! They are famous for the ducks in their pond.  Well we went check out the ducks and stayed till 5pm to watch their grand exit.  They have a grand entrance everyday at 11.  It was pretty crazy stuff. On the roof is their house, which they sleep on the back porch (not so nice!)

After the ducks we made our way to Bluefin for sushi and drinks.  It was kinda of "modern" sushi restaurants with beds to sit on as you waited.  It was not crowded so we got a table right away. The sushi was worth it! It was definitely another restaurant not to pass up.

Memphis was fun but it a dying city.  Their were homeless people everywhere, always willing to help for a handout or two.  I think we donated $40 to the homeless people.  Oh well! It was fun I would go back for the zoo but not to hang out in the city!
